Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you offer local pickup?
I do! If you’re in the Phoenix area and want to skip shipping altogether, you can select “Local Pickup” at checkout.
I’ll send you an email with pickup details once your order is ready. You get your pottery faster, and I get to pretend I’m running a secret underground clay club.
Note: Pickup is by appointment only—please don’t just show up unless you also bring tacos.

2. How do I request a custom order?
You can contact me via email, DM on Instagram, or contact form. Let me know what piece you’re interested in, along with any preferences (glaze, size, style), and I’ll work with you to create something special.

3. How long does it take to complete a custom order?
Custom orders typically take 4-6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design and my current workload. I’ll keep you updated throughout the process!

4. Can I choose any glaze or style?
Yes! You can request any glaze or style I’ve used before. Feel free to reference photos from my posts or past work when reaching out.

5. How much do custom pieces cost?
Pricing varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece. I’m happy to provide an estimate after we discuss your ideas.

6. Where can I find your pottery in person?
You can find me at various local markets. Check the Markets & Events page for upcoming dates and locations!

7. How much is shipping?
Shipping is calculated based on your location (we’re in Arizona!). Rates range from $10 to $23 depending on the zone you’re in.
We use zone-based pricing to keep it fair and accurate, since handmade pottery can be heavy and fragile.

8. Do you offer free shipping?
Yes! Orders over $105 ship free—no code needed. The discount will apply automatically at checkout.

9. Can I see your past work?
Sure! My past work is like a greatest hits album—equal parts heart, glaze, and the occasional fingerprint I swear was intentional.
You can scroll through my Instagram [@mudwaterstudio], browse the gallery on my website, or catch a time-traveling kiln ghost whispering about it at your local farmers market.
Each piece tells a story—and some of them even hold coffee.

10. Do you teach pottery lessons?
Not quite yet, but stay tuned! I’m currently in the process of upgrading my home studio to make it lesson-ready. My goal is to offer one-on-one pottery lessons in the near future, where I can share my love for clay and all things handmade. Keep an eye on my Instagram and website for updates—exciting things are coming soon!

11. Do you accept returns or exchanges?
Due to the handmade nature of my pottery, all sales are final. However, if there’s an issue with your order, please reach out, and I’ll do my best to make it right!

12. Can I pick up my order in person?
Absolutely! Local pickup is available. Just let me know when placing your order, and we’ll coordinate a time.

13. What happens if my order arrives damaged?
I take great care in packaging, but sometimes accidents happen. If your order arrives damaged, please reach out within 3 days with photos, and I’ll make it right!

14. What types of clay and glazes do you use?
I use clay sourced from Kentucky (which is one of the few commercial clays on the market that has a water absorption rate below 1%) and food-safe, lead-free glazes. All my pieces are oven, microwave, and top rack dishwasher safe unless otherwise noted.

15. How can I care for my pottery?
Most pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, but handwashing is always gentler. Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., straight from the fridge to the oven). Treat them with love—they’re handmade!

16. Do you ever make mugs without handles?
Only if I forget. (Kidding... mostly.)
