Handcrafted Pottery Studio in Arizona

Every piece that comes out of my studio is shaped by hand, fired with intention, and infused with a love for the art of pottery. Whether you’re looking for a perfectly imperfect mug to start your mornings or a unique handmade gift, each creation carries the warmth of small-batch artistry.

I believe in making pottery that feels like home—pieces you’ll reach for daily, made to be loved, used, and cherished. Take a look around, and if something speaks to you, know that it was made with care, from my hands to yours.

Meet the Maker

Hey there! I’m Maria, the maker behind Mud Water Studio. If you’re new here—welcome! I started this journey when I was pregnant and looking for a creative outlet. Turns out, I fell in love with clay, and now I run my own small pottery studio, throwing, glazing, and firing each piece myself.

My goal? To create pottery that’s as functional as it is beautiful—mugs you actually reach for, bowls that become part of your daily routine, and handmade pieces that feel like home. Every item is made with intention (and a little bit of love), and I hope you find something here that speaks to you.

My Process: From Clay to Life

Each piece begins with intention—from the clay I choose to the form I create.

I only work with the highest-quality clay bodies designed for functional ceramics—clay that won’t seep fluids over time and can be trusted for daily use.

Every form is hand-thrown on the wheel, then slowly shaped and refined. Some pieces are carved by hand—a process that can take up to 10 hours—adding depth, texture, and meaning inspired by faith and nature.

Once dried, each piece is bisque fired, glazed, and fired again to maturity. I choose glazes that accentuate the carving and glow beautifully when backlit.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is mass-produced. Every piece is made with patience, purpose, and prayer—created to bring beauty into the everyday.
